PUBLIC NOTICE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Dona Ana MDWCA Has Levels of Uranium
Above Drinking Water Standards

Este informe contiene información importante acerca de su agua potable. Haga que alguien lo traduzca para usted, o hable con alguien que lo entienda.
Our water system recently violated a drinking water standard. Although this is not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do, and what we did (are doing) to correct this situation.
We routinely monitor for the presence of drinking water contaminants. Testing results show that our system exceeds the standard or maximum contaminant level (MCL) for uranium. The standard for uranium is 30 ug/L. The average level of uranium year is shown in the table below:

Sample Location Quarter & Year Results (ug/L)
Treatement Plant #5 1st Quarter of 2025 48
Treatement Plant #5 2nd Quarter of 2025 48
Treatement Plant #5 3rd Quarter of 2025 48
Treatement Plant #5 3rd Quarter of 2025 48
Running Annual Average 48 ug/L

What should I do?
You do not need to use an alternative (e.g., bottled) water supply. However, if you have specific
health concerns, consult your doctor.

What does this mean?
This is not an immediate risk. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. However,
some people who drink water containing uranium in excess of the MCL over many years may have an
increased risk of getting cancer and kidney toxicity.

What is being done?

The Association has secured funds to drill a replacement well. Once the replacement well is finished Well 5 will be taken offline. This well is mixed with other wells within the system that do not exceed the MCL for uranium. This notice does DOES NOT apply to Picacho Hills, Radium Springs, Fairview or West Mesa customers, only customers in Dona Ana.
